What Is Text Message Marketing?

Text message marketing is a form of direct marketing that uses text messages to promote products or services. It is a relatively new method of marketing, but it has already proven to be effective. One study showed that text message marketing campaigns result in a higher open rate than email marketing campaigns.

Text message marketing can be used to send special offers, coupons, or discounts to customers. It can also be used to remind customers about upcoming events or appointments. businesses can use text message marketing to improve customer loyalty and increase sales.

Does Text Message Marketing Work?

Text message marketing has become increasingly popular in recent years as a way to reach consumers directly. And it’s no wonder why: text messages have a high open rate, and they can be very personal and intimate. But is text message marketing really effective?

The answer seems to be yes. A study by the Direct Marketing Association found that text message campaigns had a response rate of 45%, compared to just 4% for email. And text messages are often read within minutes of being received, while emails can languish in inboxes for hours or even days.

But text message marketing isn’t just about big numbers. It’s also about quality over quantity. Because text messages are so personal, they can create a much deeper connection with customers than other forms of marketing. And when customers feel connected to a brand, they’re much more likely to make a purchase.

So if you’re looking for an effective way to reach your customers, text message marketing is definitely worth considering.

Is Text Message Marketing Legal?

While text message marketing can be an effective way to reach a wide audience, it is important to be aware of the legal implications before beginning any campaign.

In the United States, the Federal Communications Commission has strict regulations governing the use of text messages for marketing purposes. These regulations require businesses to obtain permission from customers before sending them any promotional text messages. failure to do so can result in substantial fines. In addition, businesses must provide customers with a way to opt out of receiving future text messages.

As long as these requirements are met, text message marketing is legal in the United States. However, businesses should be aware that text messaging laws vary from country to country, so it is important to check the laws in any other countries where text messages will be sent.

Which Software Is Best For SMS Marketing?

When it comes to SMS marketing there are many softwares out there but we have used TextMagic extensively and can vouch for it 100%.

TextMagic allows you to send mass text message blasts, respond to texts via desktop or mobile app, send texts from email and also set up countless automations.
Although a lot of softwares such as ResponsiBid, Jobber etc have text messaging integrated with them, if you are looking for a standalone software then we suggest TextMagic.

How Do You Create The Perfect Text Marketing Campaign?

So how does your business create a text message marketing campaign that gets results?

We are going to unpack that now.

Choose The Proper Audience For Your Text Campaign

Not every text blast needs to reach your entire database. You may be sending a special offer to leads that received a quote from your company but never booked service. Another text may be meant for customers that you have serviced in the past but have not had service in the past 6 months.

It is very important to have a CRM system in place and tag each person in your database correctly so that you are able to market to them properly.

Use A Proven Text Marketing Script

A text message consists of 160 characters but you will want to use less if you can. Your message should have a CTA that elicits a response from the person receiving it.

Here are 2 great text message marketing scripts:

“Hey {Name}, this is {Owner} with {Company Name}. We’re currently overstocked with concrete sealer so we’re offering 20% off driveway cleaning and sealing while supplies last. would you like us to send a quote over for you?”

“Hi, It’s {Owner} at {CompanY Name}! With this mild “winter” weather, would you like us to add you to our landscape cleanup schedule? Don’t forget we also clean dryer vents”

Best Time To Send Text Marketing

For starters you generally want to keep your text marketing messages between 8:00am – 9:00pm Monday thru Friday. People do not take very kindly to receiving your message at 10:00pm on Saturday night.

You also need to create a sense of urgency with your message. If you are having a sale on Saturday, try sending your message out Friday towards the end of the day. Give the receiver as little time as possible to make a decision.

Test The Message

I cannot tell you how many times that I sent out a text blast without proofreading and sending a test only to find out that I had spelling mistakes or other errors. It is embarrassing and makes you look unprofessional so please do yourself a favor and send yourself a test version of the message.

Be Ready To Respond In A Timely Manner

When you send out a text blast you may find yourself flooded with responses. It is good to send out the messages in groups so that you are able to respond promptly to all return messages or calls.
